The purpose of this policy is to ensure that all individuals attending or involved in The Rally Point are safe, respected, and protected from harm.
The Rally Point provides a calm, structured day space for veterans and serving personnel. While it is not a clinical or therapeutic service, we recognise our responsibility to maintain a safe environment and respond appropriately to any safeguarding concerns.

6. Roles and Responsibilities
Directors / Responsible Persons
The directors of The Rally Point are responsible for:

Deciding when to escalate concerns to external agencies
All Staff and Volunteers
All staff and volunteers must:

Be aware of this policy

Remain observant to signs of concern

Report any concerns promptly

Maintain appropriate boundaries

Not attempt to provide professional counselling or therapy unless qualified and authorised
7. Recognising a Concern
A safeguarding concern may arise if someone:

Appears distressed, withdrawn, or unusually agitated

Mentions thoughts of self-harm or suicide
-
Discloses abuse or harm
-
Shows signs of neglect or exploitation

Poses a risk to themselves or others
8. Responding to a Concern
If a concern arises:

Stay calm and listen

Do not promise confidentiality

Reassure the individual they have done the right thing

Do not investigate or question excessively
-
Report the concern to a director immediately
9. Recording Concerns

A brief written record should be made as soon as possible

Include:

Date and time

What was observed or said

Actions taken
-
Records will be stored securely in line with GDPR.
10. Escalation
Where necessary, concerns may be shared with:

Emergency services (999)
-
GP or NHS services
-
Local safeguarding teams
-
Relevant military or veteran support organisations
Immediate risk to life should always be treated as an emergency.
11. Confidentiality
Information will be handled sensitively and shared only where necessary to protect an individual or others.
12. Boundaries of The Rally Point
The Rally Point:

Is not a clinical or therapeutic service

Does not provide counselling or medical treatment
-
Offers a supportive environment, not formal intervention
Where additional support is needed, individuals will be encouraged or signposted to appropriate services.
13. Safer Environment
We aim to maintain a safe environment by:

Requiring registration prior to attendance

Maintaining a sign-in and sign-out process

Supervising activities appropriately

Ensuring the environment is suitable and safe
